A long-awaited security feature for the Google Chromebook might be on its way soon.
The company is reportedly working on Human Presence Sensors (HPS) for its Chromebooks, which may bring fancy new features such as face unlock and more to its line of low-cost Chrome OS computers in the near future.
With Windows Hello, users may securely unlock their devices using facial biometric verification if their device has a camera that is compatible with Windows Hello, which has been available for quite some time. If the reports are correct, they may be a significant catalyst for similar steps from Apple, which has yet to incorporate any form of Face ID-like technology on its MacBooks.
Google was the first to discover evidence of the Human Presence Sensor, which has the potential to give Chromebooks with unlocking capability similar to that of Windows Hello.
